New News!I'm pleased to say this site has become a Paytrust Affiliate. Why? Because it's a great service. Period. I don't get tons of evil paper mail. My Bills are NEVER lost. I haven't had ONE overdue bill since I started the service. It's awesome. Follow the link to find out for yourself!![]() I've upgraded from my IBM Workpad to a Visor Deluxe from Handspring, a company founded by the inventors of the PalmPilot. I must say, USB hotsync, the cool colors (mine's blue), and the springboard module slot sold me. At $249 for an 8MB model with USB, it was a steal! I have a great love of the written word. I'm also a gadget freak. So naturally, when I got my IBM Workpad (same as a Palm Pilot), I went to Peanut Press to download theirVERY cool Peanut Readerand some new books. I travel a lot, and carrying around a book - even a paperback - can be annoying.I always have my Workpad, though. Peanut Press is doing a fantastic job bringingbooks to Pilot OS - a much better idea than the single-purpose E-book readersbeing sold out there for around $500! Recently, a friend of mine put me on to Project Gutenberg .With thousands of public domain works of literature transcribed into plain ASCII text,Project Gutenberg is an amazing thing! BUT HOW COULD THE TWO BE BROUGHT TOGETHER? Enter MakeBook ! A VERY coolprogram to enable you to make your own books on Palm Pilot! Add quite a bit of elbow grease(it takes a good deal of reformatting using the Peanut Markup Language), and Voila! Project Gutenberg on Palm Pilot! Legal DisclaimerWith respect to the legal agreements for both Peanut Press MakeBook and Project Gutenberg:All works which will appear here are both: 1) In the Public Domain -and- 2) Unaltered (except for the allowed reformatting) I have kept the Project Gutenberg headers intact, but convieniently placed them in their own chapters.I charge nothing for downloading these files. I do this only because I think it is greatto spread classic literature in a new medium. I offer no warranty, express or implied, on these books, nor do I assert copyrights.By downloading and reading any one of these books, you agree to accept the terms of use of theProject Gutenberg texts as outlined in the chapter titled "Before you read this E-text" on every book. Support Peanut Press and Project Gutenberg!I encourage everyone to support these organizations. The best way to support Peanut Press,of course, is to buy their books! While it is possible that some books available for a fee onthe Peanut Press *May* be available here at no charge, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!Peanut Press does a first-rate job of publishing the books on Pilot. They edit and format tovery demanding specifications. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I do my best, but I cannot possibly put in the man-hoursrequired to do the professional job they do. (especially when I'm not getting paid!)Check HERE to get the latest Peanut Press news. NOW - Analog and Asimov SF mags for Palm OS!Project Gutenberg may be supported by donations of money or time.
