I've upgraded from my IBM Workpad to a Visor Deluxe from Handspring, a company founded by the inventors of the PalmPilot. I must say, USB hotsync, the cool colors (mine's blue), and the springboard module slot sold me. At $249 for an 8MB model with USB, it was a steal! I have a great love of the written word. I'm also a gadget freak.So naturally, when I got my IBM Workpad (same as a Palm Pilot), I went to Peanut Press to download theirVERY cool Peanut Readerand some new books. I travel a lot, and carrying around a book - even a paperback - can be annoying.I always have my Workpad, though. Peanut Press is doing a fantastic job bringingbooks to Pilot OS - a much better idea than the single-purpose E-book readersbeing sold out there for around $500! Recently, a friend of mine put me on to Project Gutenberg .With thousands of public domain works of literature transcribed into plain ASCII text,Project Gutenberg is an amazing thing! BUT HOW COULD THE TWO BE BROUGHT TOGETHER? Enter MakeBook ! A VERY coolprogram to enable you to make your own books on Palm Pilot! Add quite a bit of elbow grease(it takes a good deal of reformatting using the Peanut Markup Language), and Voila! Project Gutenberg on Palm Pilot!
